A Successful Journey of Parenthood

Asiya, a 22-year-old woman, got married in January 2010 to her long-time childhood friend Omar. It was like a dream come true for the whole family as they heard about the news of Asiya’s pregnancy. Asiya was healthy; however unfortunate thing happened with her and she lost the baby due to post partum haemorrhage. It was a sad ending for her and after staying in hospital for a month with 12 blood transfusions, she had lost all hope of getting pregnant again.
Asiya came to IFC in 2012, with no hope of having a child again. She was in a serious trouble, living in a depressed state of mind. Her marriage was in tatters. After consulting the IFC team, our team specialists including Dr. Rita Bakshi took her case personally. After reviewing her case, we suggested Asiya to go for gestational surrogacy. Asiya was then, just 24-years-old and her husband’s semen analysis report were normal. It was a ray of hope for her to have a baby, through gestational surrogacy arrangement. We prescribed her fertility drugs and wanted to begin stimulation so as to get at least 4-5 eggs. However, Asiya’s family was reluctant and objected her due to personal and religious grounds. It became a hurdle for Asiya to have a child. After a series of consultations and counseling, we planned for a natural cycle. One egg was retrieved in March 2012 which was fertilized with her husband’s sperm through in vitro fertilization. The resulting embryo was then transferred on day 3 and the surrogate got pregnant. Surrogate mother had a successfully delivery in December 2012, a healthy boy who was given a name Asif was born. Asiya was enthralled after receiving the baby. Happiness brought to the family. Asiya enjoys the joy of motherhood and now wants to have a big family.
